INTER-WORLD/SPHERE: Over The Cube
Piece concept
To materialize the metaphysical concept of “dynamism of relationship” with a Bruno Latour-like social philosophy as the main theme for my artistic creation, I have adopted the forms of geometric structures, “bubble structures of the world” observed in the micro/macro worlds, and, to express these forms, created a mechanism that allows viewers to appreciate them through their sensory experiences. This work provides such a mechanism. Therefore, it naturally invites viewers to engage in such acts as touching, entering, getting on, and laying down on something, so as to let it physically appeal to the senses of their body. The work is also intended to express a conceptual universe that the viewers can only feel through higher-order senses, such as the ability to perceive the environment through something that largely surpasses the senses of the body (for example, showers of amplified light, heat, and sound; the phenomenon of an entire space severely distorted by winds), that is, by going beyond the realm of physical realism. As to what the form, structure, and function of the “relationship” embodied in my work are like, I believe that responses can be found in the respective traits of air, water, and light, or that responses have some similarities to them. This is why they are the main components of this work. Producing reflections that change in hue depending on the sources and angles of light, the work affirms the variability and multifaceted nature of one’s self and the diversity of human society while suggesting the preciousness of the environment with air, water, and light.
